Desiring to go even closer to terra firma but my tyres catch on the arches as it is - could I just cut back the lip of the arch so its no longer there?

Additionally, obviously this would mean the arch trim will need to come off - what the hell can I remove the massive amounts of black adhesive with?

front arches? easy, get the grinder out like Paul's done. Rear arches, you need to be damn careful as they are double skinned ad you can make a right f*ckin mess!

If it was me I'd leave it a alone, lowriding isn't big or clever

tap them in with a dolly hammer mate then underseal the bits you have tapped in cuz the paint will have cracked
