| Ok, so i picked this up last night from a lad in Alsager at a very reasonable price. Bags of potential and a beautiful runner. Been off the road for 12 months and in need of a lower arm, exhaust gasket and a new clutch. Also an MOT but we'll worry about that when we come to it. :P . I want it to be ready for Dubfreeze though. Basically i want to go for a very low, retro/euro look and this is my inspiration: which is all very good when you consider that at the moment it looks like this: So, been down and had a few hours on it today (while the missus tore the cr*p out of her polo) and fitted an old style center console and a gti interior that i had lying around (as you do :P ). During which i also ripped out the aftermarket electric windows that were fitted and re-installed the man handles. Overall gave it a much nicer look about it but could do with some black carpets. Hope you all agree. Also tried on some chrome door handles i had but they looked naff so took them back off and replaced the originals. I'm hoping to scrape off the red stripes that run down the sides and the tour decals as i think they may spoil my look slightly and the horrible clear rear lights are another must to remove asap, replacing the with either full tinted or 16v ones. Other bits intended are: Lowering (at least 60mm but hopefully more) 2 light 7 slat grill to go with some crystal crosshairs i already have Aftermarket crystal front indicators with built in sidelights. My mate had some and they looked the nuts. Fully carpeted and flattened boot, again already have all the bits. Fitting my 15" classic ronals, but may need some lower profile tyres. I'm sure theres a lot more that i'll be doing to it so i'll keep updating if there's any interest. |

Nice lookin' ride man -- good project! No idea. Looks like a mk1 golf though. And you're right, it is stunning! |

"Scrape" Bit thin on the updates at the moment as very little is getting done. Been spending more time on the missus' polo. Bouight a shed load of parts though including: Some all red rear lights Clear front and side indicators Pressed German plates and..... a full lowering kit down to 85mm All i need now is some chrome rim bumpers and a 7 slat 2 light grill. Then it'll just be a case of throwing it all together. In other news i have some meaty 500W 2-way speakers that i don't want to fit in the parcel shelf. So in the coming days i'll be attempting to mount them into the supports that currently hold the 6x4's. Should be interesting. I'll get me hammer. |

| Right, managed to fit my 6x9 speakers into the standard golf mk2 parcel shelf supports Thought i'd post up a few pictures of how i managed it. Basically my reason for this is i had these in a stealth shelf in my mk3 and it was a pain disconnecting it all when i needed to open the back up to put stuff in. So rather than have the hassle of that i wanted them as out of the way as possible. This seems to have done the trick Didn't know wether to put this in a new thread so i'll leave it to admin to decise. Started by snapping of the retaining lugs for the old speakers Cut out the space i needed using a hacksaw blade Cut out and drilled the fixing hole for one side Then popped a bolt in and melted along the seam to form a fixing bracket After letting it cool and set in place i popped the speaker in a drilled out the fixing for the other side Then just tightened it all up and..... The two fixings that are on show will be hidden by the parcel shelf so should all work out well. Fitted them into the car (with the new carpeted turrets) and they look pretty good in my opinion As for the rest of the car i've done very little but here are a few pictures of how it sits at the moment. Hope you all enjoyed looking at my bodge job. |

| Ok. Bear with me, i'm abandoning this project for the time being. After deciding to go for a full strip out, custom respray and engine upgrade i've come to realise that i'd rather it be a 3-door mk2 that i do all this to. So all the parts are off and into storage while i look for a 3-door to start afresh with. And that's when the fun will really start. . This one, however is now up for sale in the sale section at the cost of £250 ono. |

| Tidy isn't the word i would have used. :P Got them fitted and working before i had the about turn on the project. The sound was immense, and that was without any front speakers wired in. |
