For sale is the car i had intended to make a project of, but i have
decided to go in another direction. Basically i want a full strip,
respray and engine swap and decided i'd rather do it to a 3-door than a
5-door.

I had intended to break it but i've realised it's far too good for that and it deserves someone else to make a go of it.

It's
a 1.8 Tour in helios blue. With it being my intended project i had it
fully checked over by a mechanic and it needs the following work:

N/S front suspension arm
Exhaust gasket (between the manifold and downpipe)
New battery
Clutch cable adjusting

There
are some rust spots here and there. It's worst at the bottom of the O/S
front and rear doors. A few spots on the rear panel. And a bit on the
arches. There is nothing that will need welding for MOT though. Also a
few of the door/window seals need looking at.

It has to be
started with a battery booster at the moment as the battery is naff but
once it's started it idles nicely. The auto-choke and the fan do their
stuff at the right times and the engine will sit and run perfectly. It
does not overheat even when left ticking over for an hour so no head
gasket problems guaranteed.

Exhaust back box seems to be aftermarket as it's slightly bigger than standard, but nothing garish.

It'll
come on 13" polo steels as i'll be taking off the Ronal R8 alloys that
were intended for it. Also i'll be keeping the 7-slat grill, side trims,
crystal crosshairs, red rear lights and crystal indicators but the
stuff that was on the car before will be put back on. If it's any
consolation there are a set of brand new pressed german plates included.

Interior
wise everything is ok though the car will come minus a parcel shelf and
supports, and no door cards. Usual bolster wear on the drivers side
seat but it's the red and grey stripe old gti interior thats in it.
Standard, mint con seats can be included but will need thoroughly drying
out as they've been sat outside.

Tax and MOT are long expired but it will not take much work to get it through.

I'm
asking for £250 ono which i think is very fair as it is not a clapped
out banger or boy racer casualty, nor is it a complete rot box, but a
genuine mk2 that with the right amount of attention will be a nice
little car for someone. I may be willing to put 12 months MOT on it for
the right price.
