I've been looking into getting my first car (it's about damn time)

And my mind is stuck on a Lupo / Lupo GTI

so I figured where best to get information and advice than my local forum!

welcome mate good choice on the lupo top car i loved mine

I'm trying to find a nice one, Most liekly in Raven blue but they all seem to be at 4k and they have 90k miles on the clock!

As a Lupo owner any ideas?

well i had a 1.416v 75 bhp in taft green metallic was very tidy paid 2500 i think but was basic wind windows tape player steel wheels but they are easy to make look really good. if your young and its your first car you wont get insured on a gti get a little 1.4tdi or 1.0 petrol they all have 1 lady owner lol

I was going to go for a 1.4 sport but I got a quote from compare the market fire and theft and it came to £1450 and the GTI came out to 2k but with my old dear as a named driver dropped to 1600

Plus I'm 22, 23 this year so who knows!

welcome matey, lupos are a good base to start with but tbh id get somthing a bit older like a 6n polo 1.0 or 1.4 get you no claims up abit

I looked into the GTI it seems a waste of cash for me!

mine was a 1.4 not a sport but a 16v 75bhp

not really there are cars that age that have been to the moon and back as long as you get it serviced and have the cambelt and water pump done should run sweet

I've had both the lupo sport and the GTI.
I love lupo's
the 1.4 sport is brill, awesome fun and it was bright yellow, the one problem you will face with the 1.4's is that the interior is vile, its black and grey and a wierd nominal colour like yellow or green.
I ended up finding a gti breaker and took the seats, and all lower plastics on as on the sport they are grey, and the gti is black.
I would pick a sport over a GTI on the fact the insurance is a lot less. so for a new driver... sport it all the way
high milager's struggle with gearbox faults and the odd sensor needs replacing. if you find one with 80k+ which has had a new box. dont worry about it. I sold my GTI on 105k and it was still going strong!

1.4s is bogo though, no electric windows or mirrors

yeah mine was boggo but was a cool little car ideal for a first timer

I could save for the GTi :S

But 1.4 TDI Sport or the 1.4 Sport seem the way to go

1.4 tdi will last forever
1.4 is cool
1.6 is cooler :-)
electric windows are the least you want though matey trust me

i would be happy with any of them 100k on a car that is over 10 years old is nowt that under average milage like ive said before a good service will sort any worries you have

cambelt done though... so thats one expense you need not worry about... it'll do another 96k with ease...

servisce history, cam belt, clutch, why is he selling if the mileage is so low, are the miles genuine, can he e-mail you more pictures of under the bonnet and any problems with the body work a picture of the clocks showing the mileage it looks really tidy though mate and if its clean go for it
