| Evening all... Just out of interest, does anyone have a scale drawing/specs/dimensions on a sump/engine guard for a mk3? 2.0 8v engine with an auto box... Its also a cabriolet if that makes any difference? My missus's dad can do metal fabrication at work, and could knock one up quite easily, but to save trial & error, if anyone's got specs, it'd be really useful. Ta! |

View Larger Image Sumpsaver Skid Plate mk2/mk3 Golf/Jetta Corrado G60/VR6 Our Sumpsaver Skid Plate was designed to address the most common problem a lowered car faces on a daily basis - the smashed oil pan. Consider the Sumpsaver as a protective shield of armor for your car. Construction is from premium 5052 aluminum alloy. Each unit is CNC laser cut to exacting tolerances. Each bend is completed in a CNC press to ensure a perfect fit. Extra material has been added to safely cover the oil drain plug. You'll never have to replace a drain plug again! Our mounting system implements a unique system that uses existing mounting points on your car's subframe and two holes that you drill into your front crossmember. Corrosion-resistant fasteners and Loc-Tite are included. We let you drill the holes to accommodate any misalignment issues with your car's chassis. Includes complete hardware kit and skidplate. | Yeah they are expensive and iirc G Werks stock them. I'd have a go at making one up yourself, a sheet of steel cant be that much |

| The thing is, I havent come close to hitting the sump or gearbox on this golf. The Bora i had before was terrible. Being a TDI, heavily slammed with a chassis notch, I went through 3 sumps in 3 months! And thats no exaggeration! Just dont want the same to happen on the golf but i think the sump is higher anyways, with it being a petrol and not a diesel. The sump guard would just be a precaution tbh. My girlfriends dad works for a hydraulic and metal fabrication company, so can make me one up easily enough, but i just wanted some dimensions or specs, so that I can give him a drawing. & Mr Poy, if i got some specs and dimensions, I'm sure he;d make you one up too. Might have to pay for the metal sheet, but i doubt it would be too much. & Ideally, I want it making out of aluminium anyways so its light. I'll keep you informed |

yes not that sort of hydraulics company he works out nr leek building and designing the hydraulics that go into HEAVY plant machinery. Them massive trucks that take 100tonne loads of of quarrys in the US n stuff. its cool work! not hydraulics as in "hi im snoop dogg watch me bounce" hydraulics. althought that would also be cool. |
