| somehow alloy banded wouldn't be very good... you'd be lucky to find somewhere that would carry out this due to the stresses that would be put into the weld...
Steel is far stronger thats why you can band them... |

| never heard of anybody doing this mate you could try but like jon says ally dosnt hold up to stress as good as steel thats why you can band steel the ally welds would prob crack if you hat a pot hole or a nasty bump in the road |

| how much money is in your pocket?
to have a design turned into reality will cost you some serious £££
you've got the wages of the guy programming the 5 axis CNC, his time spent machining, the cost of raw materials, quality checks and the finishing..
unless you know someone with a machine capable then you'd be looking min £1500 depending upon how complex the design is. |

| if your thinking of spending big money get a set of bbs rs mate would be cheaper than spending money and time on having a big piece of ally machined i mean the last time i weighted in ally i got 17 quid for 20 kg so it aint a cheap metal |

| A couple of examples for you, I've also seen a standard alloy converted to take a BBS style dish insead of a banded weld.. :-D I think you'll find more examples Stateside. |

| Those are interesting, I'd like to know how thats done as I thought once you welded alloys like that they'd need re-heat treating to give the strength back. The metal would go brittle at the edges of the Heat Affected Zone and be prone to cracking.
I had an alloy bike frame TIG welded up, the weld was strong but the rest of the frame was weakened. It lasted a while then cracked. Something as critical as a wheel needs to be done properly |

I would imagine approaching an engineering fabricators. They'll be able to tell you what's involved and prices. I haven't got a pic of the added dish on a standard rim, It all depends on the amount of alloy to thread. I'll have a search, must have something from the vaults |
